Hello, and welcome to GeoSpatial Stream. I’m your host, Todd Danielson, and today’s Lead Sponsor is Esri’s Geodesign Summit.

Today’s Top Story is Hexagon Live, the international user conference I recently attended in Las Vegas. Hexagon is a very large company geared toward capturing the digital world and making the information useful for widespread collaboration and problem solving. Here’s a video summary of the event, provided by Hexagon, and I’ll provide my thoughts later on.

That was today’s Top Story. I’ll be back with more news after this interview clip from Esri’s Geodesign Summit.

A Canadian expedition team used geospatial technology to track icebergs to better understand how they drift. Led by the University of Manitoba and the Canadian Coast Guard, the team used GeoDecisions’ GeoILS location server, which runs on Esri’s ArcGIS platform, to research ice-hazard mitigation, the effects of climate change and polar-region technology requirements.

In industry headlines, exactEarth and Harris Corp. partnered to provide improved real-time global maritime tracking and information solutions, leveraging the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation.

FlightlineGeo and RP Search Services joined forces to provide drone technology to capture and process damage-assessment imagery in areas of Texas affected by recent flooding.

And LizardTech announced new worldwide partnerships with Emi Grup in Turkey, Beijing Space Eye Innovation Technology in China, Esri Muscat in Oman, and Cuminas Corp. in Japan.

And now for today’s Final Thought. As usual, I enjoyed my recent stay in Las Vegas, although it’s really hot this time of year (and getting hotter). The theme at this year’s Hexagon event was human ingenuity and the courage it takes to confront change and spark innovation. I thought the company made some major progress since last year in its quest to tie products together, often via the cloud, to solve customer problems with integrated solutions.

I saw drones, simulators, satellites, sensors, Smart Maps and a host of additional high-tech options. But you can learn a lot more details about the event on V1 Media’s Sensors & Systems and Informed Infrastructure Web sites, under Event Coverage. I’ll also be posting on GeoSpatial Stream several interviews with high-level Hexagon executives discussing their particular departments and products as well as thoughts on where the industry is headed, so be sure to check those out.

And yes, I did sing with an Elvis impersonator at one of the corporate social events. Vegas, baby.

That’s it for this broadcast, but if you’d like to receive alerts when new GeoSpatial Stream videos are released, or sign up for additional V1 Media newsletters, please visit this Web site and register:
